The Optometrist will assess through a series of tests and evaluations which can detect underlying health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and certain types of eye cancers, as well as your individual visual requirements.

The eye examination is a very important health check, we do much more than checking your vision. As with most disorders, early detection is key to enable prevention of disease or effective management of conditions such as glaucoma, dry eye and macula degeneration.

We have invested in equipment to assist in early diagnosis including an Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT). This allows us to see fine detail of many parts of your eye in 3D instantly and without even needing to make contact with your eye. Your images are securely saved enabling us to provide ongoing care and continuity at each visit.

We have formed strong links with the local GP surgeries, private and NHS medical centres to ensure your eyecare is comanaged when necessary.

The examination is also focused on allowing you to have the best vison possible for you. We allow time so you are not feeling rushed to make decisions and provide you with a prescription for whatever distance you are having difficulties with. The information is discussed with one of our Dispensing Opticians so nothing gets missed. Their knowledge and problem solving skills, together with the prescription, ensures the best possible glasses for your needs.

Please allow up to 90 minutes for the eye exam and allowing us to discuss and update your eyewear if necessary. It is really helpful to bring your current glasses with you and if it is your first visit, your previous prescription copy if possible.
